Hydro One has given a $25,000 grant to Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) to support one of the conservation authority's education programs.
The grant comes through Hydro One’s Energizing Life Community Fund, and will go toward supporting the Wetland Education for a Resilient Future program.
GSCA says this is a "hands-on program designed to teach students about wetland conservation, species at risk, and natural hazard mitigation."
Students learn about wetlands through an emergent lens, beginning with tiny organisms all the way up to bigger wildlife and broad ecosystems found in wetlands.
Beginning in spring 2026, the program aims to reach as many students and classrooms across the watershed as possible, with many field trips available to learn how wetlands protect people by slowing and storing water, filtering pollutants, and reducing flood impacts.
Educators who would like their class to take part in the program are encouraged to contact the GSCA office at 519-376-3076 or education@greysauble.on.ca.
