Following an earlier confirmed avian flu outbreak in North Perth last week, two more have been identified in the same area.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed to CKNXNewsToday that the two new bird flu outbreaks were confirmed in the Listowel area on December 19 and 21, respectively. Those follow an initial outbreak at a commercial poultry operation that was announced on December 15.
That initial outbreak involved 56,000 turkeys, and the two newest outbreaks now bring the total to 109,000 turkeys that will be culled.
Again, the CFIA says the birds will be euthanized and "disposed of in accordance with necessary provincial requirements."
The two newest avian flu outbreaks near Listowel bring the provincial total of current outbreaks to eight.
