Windsor Police say a 62-year-old man is dead after a hit-and-run crash late Sunday night.
Police say first responders were called to Tecumseh Road East at Princess Avenue just before 10 p.m., after someone was hit by a vehicle in the intersection. A driver was travelling eastbound on Tecumseh Road East at a high rate of speed when the vehicle struck a pedestrian crossing the road. The suspect then took off.
The victim was rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He has not been publicly identified.
The suspect was found at around 11 p.m. in the area of Juliet Crescent and Ducharme Road and was arrested.
A 19-year-old man is charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, and failure to stop at a fatal crash.
The crash shut down Tecumseh Road East between Norman Road and Westminster Boulevard. It reopened early Monday morning.
The investigation is ongoing.
