The Town of Essex has revealed a new state-of-the-art weapon against dangerous fires.
Essex Fire and Rescue has taken delivery of a new Spartan Metro Star pumper. It was created by Brampton-based Dependable Emergency Vehicles, at a cost of $1,130,000.
"This new truck significantly enhances our operational capability and ensures our firefighters have the reliable, modern equipment they need to respond safely and effectively," said Essex Fire Chief Jason Pillon. "It is a strong investment in the safety of our community."
The new truck was purchased as part of the Town's 2026 capital budget. It includes a pump capacity of 2,000 U.S. gallons per minute, with a tank capacity of 1,000 U.S. gallons.
Firefighters will soon begin training exercises with the new truck. Additional equipment will also be installed and tested.
