A busy Sarnia roadway will experience further traffic delays this summer as a road rehabilitation project gets underway along Indian Road.
Construction work is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 6, between Kathleen Avenue and Exmouth Street. The work will also include the intersection of Indian Road and London Road, as well as 200 metres in each direction of London Road.
The project includes curb repairs; manhole, valve, and catch basin adjustments; milling the existing asphalt surface; and hot mix asphalt resurfacing.
The $1.1 million contract was awarded to GIP Paving Inc.
The County of Lambton said through traffic will be permitted during the construction process. However, drivers should expect delays and temporary lane closures.
Motorists are reminded to follow traffic control signage and to respect the safety of construction crews.
The work is expected to take approximately two months to complete, weather permitting.
Some of the work will be done during the overnight hours.
In May, Sarnia council approved a noise by-law exemption to carry out overnight asphalt resurfacing work.
The undertaking is a continuation of last year's rehabilitation project involving Indian Road and Confederation Street.
