Owen Sound police are hailing a young girl for displaying great courage after she was accosted by a man at Harrison Park on Tuesday.
According to police, on June 30, around 12:45 p.m. a man grabbed the 13-year-old female victim from behind.
Police said the girl's quick thinking and courageous actions allowed her to break free, then she immediately sought assistance from people nearby.
The man attempted to flee but members of the public, including the youth’s family, promptly intervened until the police arrived and arrested him a short distance away.
As a result of this incident, a 31-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with assault, sexual assault, and breach of probation.
He was held for bail and was later remanded into custody where he remains.
