A fundraising campaign to bring the first MRI machine to Bruce County continues to attract funding.
Over $15 million has been raised toward the $18 million goal as the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation's efforts gain momentum.
The target represents the community's share of the funding to support the project, which will also require substantial expansion and updates to local hospital facilities.
The Foundation’s Giving Cruise Day on July 31st generated over $305,000, pushing the total over the $15 million mark.
"Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent or donated online, and a special shoutout to our matching donors — Wayne and Janet Palmateer, Dotty McClelland, and a last-minute boost from John and Diane Satosek — whose generosity helped turn one evening into a truly transformational moment for the campaign," noted Campaign Co-Chairs Graham Mahood and Kathryn Freimanis.
South Bruce Grey Health Centre President and CEO Nancy Shaw recently provided municipal councils with a project update, noting that site construction mobilization is currently projected to begin in May 2027.
Comminity organizers are preparing for the inaugural Lighthouse to Lighthouse Half Marathon and 5K, aiming to raise $100,000 toward the expansion project. Members of the public can sponsor individual runners or participating teams online.
Additional fundraising opportunities remain active throughout the late summer and fall, including ticket sales for the KinCares 50/50 draw and an upcoming presence at the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo in Walkerton this September.
