The fifth annual Walk for Courage event raised $50,000 for CMHA Grey Bruce.
A media release from CMHA Grey Bruce shares that more than 160 participants took part in Owen Sound and Hanover, with additional supporters participating virtually.
The event was established in honour of Jeff Courage, who died by suicide in 2019, with his family starting the event. The walk in Owen Sound, where the event originated, celebrated its fifth year, and Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff presented Greg and Tawnia Courage, Jeff's parents, with a commemorative certificate recognizing the milestone.
Also, the online auction for this year's walk raised nearly $7,000, making it the most successful auction in the event's history.
All of the funding raised from the Walk for Courage goes toward local mental health education and suicide prevention initiatives led by CMHA Grey Bruce.
The 2025 walk raised $48,000.
