Three additional overdoses reported in Owen Sound

Grey Bruce Public Health says there have been three drug poisonings since the beginning of the week in Owen Sound.

The Health Unit said all three individuals were responsive to naloxone. The cases occurred between July 5 and 7 and in two of the instances, the suspected substance was fentanyl.

This is the second straight week the Health Unit has issued an alert, and the third time in the last month.

The Health Unit continues to encourage all people who use drugs to have naloxone on hand and a sober friend with them who can administer it.

Naloxone is available at pharmacies and participating community partners, and at Grey Bruce Public Health, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is needed.

Drugs can also be tested by calling SOS at 519-379-8743.
