The Saugeen Shores Police Service arrested and charged seven people after an incident involving a weapon in Port Elgin.
According to police, on June 3, officers responded to a weapons incident on Market Street in Port Elgin.
As a result several people on scene were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance. A search warrant was applied for by the Criminal Investigation Unit and granted for a residential property later that afternoon.
Following the execution of the search warrant, a total of seven suspects ranging in age from 22-46-years-old have all been charged with three counts each of possession of a controlled substance.
One suspect was also charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, failure to comply with probation order and assault with a weapon. Another of the accused was also charged with obstruct peace officer. Finally, another of the accused was also charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
All seven of the accused were held for a bail hearing. Six were released and one was held for a future court date. This investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending, police say.
