Owen Sound Police are seeking witnesses to a Tuesday afternoon collision that saw a child struck by a vehicle.
According to police, around 3:30 p.m. on May 19 emergency services responded to report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian in the area of 14th Street West and Alpha Street.
The four-year-old child was taken to hospital with unknown injuries that police say are not thought to be life-threatening at this time.
The area was blocked to traffic while officers documented the scene and the vehicle. Police say the investigation into the circumstances of the collision are still ongoing, but all roadways have been re-opened.
"Officers would like to take this opportunity to remind all drivers to be extra vigilant with the increase in foot traffic that comes with warmer weather, especially in the times just before and after school," police said in a media release. "Pedestrians should also stay aware of their surroundings at all times and parents are encouraged to make sure their kids know how to stay safe when around busy streets."
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident can provide information to the investigating officer, PC Neumann, at 204@owensoundpolice.com.
