Provincial government renews agreement at Small Business Enterprise Centre in Stratford

The provincial government has renewed its Small Business Enterprise Centre agreement with the Stratford Perth Centre for Business.

The renewal will "ensure the continued delivery of programs and services that support entrepreneurs and small businesses across Stratford, St. Marys, and Perth County," according to a statement from investStratford.

investStratford says the Stratford Perth Centre for Business is critical to the expansion of regional business. In 2025, the centre conducted more than 170 consultations with businesses, helping to establish 43 new businesses and expand 48 others.

With the announced renewal, the Stratford Perth Centre for Business will continue providing one-on-one advisory services, planning support and targeted programming for local entrepreneurs.

Resources include the Summer Company program, which offers students mentorship and financial assistance, and Starter Company Plus Program, which supports adults in launching or purchasing a business through grants and training.

The centre is also utilizing new AI technology, as well as offering mental health supports to business owners and new succession planning.

"Small businesses are the backbone of our rural communities," said Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington. "They create jobs, support local initiatives, and keep our communities strong. By supporting new entrepreneurs, we’re helping drive growth and opportunity across our communities."

"The Province’s renewal of the SBEC agreement reflects the value of locally delivered business support services," added City of Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma. "This continued investment will help ensure that small businesses in our community have access to the tools and resources they need to succeed."
