A 38-year-old Bluewater man is facing impaired and dangerous driving charges after allegedly driving drunk with a child in the vehicle.
Huron County OPP stopped a vehicle for speeding on Zurich-Hensall Road just after 9 a.m. last Saturday. Officers ended up arresting the driver for suspected impaired driving. The individual was taken to the OPP detachment in Clinton, where a sobriety test was administered.
"Breath samples provided to police resulted in readings over twice the legal limit," police said.
A Bluewater man is charged with one count each of driving while impaired with a blood alcohol level over 80, dangerous driving, and operating an unsafe vehicle. The vehicle has been impounded for seven days and the accused driver's licence is suspended for 90 days.
Police added that a young child was in the vehicle when it was stopped.
The man has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Goderich court on May 4, police said.
