Wellington North Mayor and county councillor Andy Lennox has been re-elected as the Chair of the Wellington County OPP Board.
Former Town of Erin Mayor Allan Alls will serve as Vice Chair for 2026.
According to the statement from Wellington North, the Ministry of the Solicitor General has the "statutory authority to establish guidelines and directives for the administration of law enforcement and public safety in Ontario."
Any municipality that maintains a police service is required through provincial legislation to "establish a structure through which these standards and regulations are administered," the statement added.
The Wellington County OPP Board is accountable for the proper conduct of the organization, with the board also being responsible for law enforcement and local crime prevention, which is done in consultation with the detachment commander.
