COVID-19 outbreak declared at Wingham and District Hospital

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Wingham and District Hospital, prompting temporary visiting restrictions within the hospital’s inpatient unit.

The notice, issued by the Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance, is aimed at limiting the spread of the virus and protecting patients, visitors, and staff.

Under the outbreak measures, visitation is restricted to essential visitors only. Each patient is permitted one essential visitor, who must check in with nursing staff before entering the unit. Personal protective equipment is mandatory for all approved visitors and will be provided by the hospital.

Hospital officials are also urging anyone who is sick or experiencing symptoms not to visit during the outbreak period. The restrictions will remain in place until the outbreak is declared over.

Patients and families with questions are encouraged to speak directly with hospital staff for the most up-to-date information. The hospital thanks the public for their cooperation as it works to maintain a safe care environment.
