Central Huron and Hanover receive over $548K from OLG

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has announced a combined first-quarter payment of $548,374 to the municipalities of Central Huron and Hanover for hosting local casino facilities.

Between April 1 and June 30, Central Huron received $201,065 for hosting Gateway Casinos Clinton, while Hanover was paid $347,309 for hosting Playtime Casino Hanover.

Since their respective openings (Clinton in August 2000 and Hanover in February 2001), the communities have benefited significantly from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement. To date, Central Huron has received $14,552,696 and Hanover $24,382,815 in non-tax gaming revenue.

Payments to host communities are determined by a graduated formula applied to gaming revenues under the Municipality Contribution Agreement, ensuring consistency across all land-based casino sites in Ontario.

Since 1994, Ontario communities that host casinos have received nearly $2.3 billion in non-tax gaming revenue. These funds have supported local priorities such as infrastructure projects, public services, and economic development initiatives.

OLG reinvests 100 per cent of its profits into Ontario. Over the past nine years, private sector partners have invested more than $2.8 billion into new casino developments and upgrades, boosting local economies and supporting job creation across the province.
