Chatham-born Ayim to be inducted into Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame

A Chatham-native is being inducted into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame.

Miranda Ayim is one of 10 people named to the Class of 2026. She's being elected alongside Michael Meeks, Jamaal Magloire, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, Teresa Kleindienst, Peter “Doc” Ryan, Dave Smart, Janice Deakin, and Dr. Andrew Pipe.

Ayim was born in Chatham but raised in London.

She represented Canada at the 2012 London, 2016 Rio, and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ayim was also on the Canadian team that won gold at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

"Her career is defined by durability, leadership, and contribution to one of the most successful eras in Canadian women’s basketball. As a three-time Olympian and long-serving national team leader, Ayim’s legacy reflects both individual excellence and collective success," read a statement from Canada Basketball.

Ayim and the other inductees will be honoured at a later ceremony in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.
