Spitfires trade Hicks, draft picks to Brampton for blueliner

The Windsor Spitfires pulled off their second roster shift in a week on Wednesday.

The club announced via its official website that it has traded defenceman Carter Hicks, along with three OHL draft picks, to the Brampton Steelheads.

In exchange, Windsor is receiving Czechia-born defenceman Jakub Fibigr.

Hicks, from London, was a second-round pick for the Spits in 2024. Over a season and a half, he compiled a record of six goals for 18 points and 51 penalty minutes. He also had a plus-minus rating of 12.

Fibigr was selected by the Steelheads in the 2023 CHL Import Draft, when the team was based in Mississauga.

He led Steelheads blueliners in points so far this season with 24, including eight goals, and is a draftee of the NHL's Seattle Kraken.

Fibigr also represented Team Czechia at the 2025 and 2026 IIHF World Junior Hockey Champioships, winning a silver medal for his home country at the tournament, which concluded this past weekend in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Windsor is also giving Brampton its second-round draft pick in 2026, along with its third and sixth-round picks in 2029.

The Spitfires are back in action Thursday night at home against Erie.
