CK police urge drivers to make prudent choices to keep roads safe

Canada Road Safety Week is underway and Chatham-Kent (CK) police will be conducting traffic enforcement initiatives and public awareness campaigns to keep roads safe.

The goal of the safety week is to reduce dangerous driving behaviours, such as distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding, aggressive driving, and seatbelt violations.

CK police encourage everyone to make safe and responsible choices behind the wheel to keep all drivers, cyclists and pedestrians safe.

“Our goal is simple, to help prevent collisions, injuries and fatalities on our roads. Every safe decision made behind the wheel can make a difference,” said Acting Sergeant Lisa Rodger.

Police said the public can expect the following during the week:

• Increased traffic enforcement throughout Chatham-Kent

• Daily road safety awareness and educational social media posts

• Traffic safety tips and reminders

• Community engagement initiatives promoting safe driving habits

Drivers are reminded to do the following:

• Put away distractions while driving

• Obey posted speed limits

• Never drive impaired

• Wear seatbelts at all times

• Stay alert and share the road safely

CK police is thanking the community in advance for supporting road safety initiatives and helping keep Chatham-Kent roads safe for everyone.

Canada Road Safety Week ends May 18.
