WDLC releases list of candidates with its endorsement in municipal election

The Windsor District Labour Council knows who it wishes people would vote for on October 26, and it has released the list.

The list does not include an endorsement in the mayoral race in Windsor, but does name six candidates running for seats on city council.

For city council, the council threw its endorsement behind Frazier Fathers in Ward 2, Ken Acton in Ward 5, Jeremy Renaud for Ward 6, Angelo Marignani for Ward 7, in Ward 8, Kevin Racine and Kieran McKenzie in Ward 9.

The council said it based its endorsements on six key issues: ensuring transparency and accountability in decision-making, providing public services like libraries, transit, public health and childcare, advancing measures to address sustainability, promoting affordable housing options, and protecting jobs.

It says it made its decision after a "consultative and deliberative process."

In Amherstburg, the council is endorsing Michael Prue for mayor and Jen DeLuca for town councillor.

Essex mayoral candidate and incumbent Sherry Bondy earned an endorsement for mayor.

Only one candidate in Kingsville got the nod, and that was Sheri Lowrie for town councillor.

Three candidates were endorsed in Lakeshore: Tracey Bailey for mayor, Kirk Walstead for deputy mayor, and Kelsey Santarossa for Ward 4 councillor.

Leamington candidate for town councillor Heather Latam was endorsed by the council.

While in Tecumseh, the council is throwing its weight behind Joe Bachetti for mayor, Alex Ilijoski for Ward 3 councillor, Cheryl Hardcastle for Ward 4 councillor, and for Ward 5 councillor Marisa Nabbout.

Election Day is October 26.
