Windsor prowling suspect identified by police

Windsor police say a man wanted for a series of break-and-enters at a single home earlier this summer has been identified.

Between July 26 and July 29, a man was seen by witnesses and on video going onto a property at University Avenue West near Askin Avenue multiple times and entering the house.

At one point, the homeowner found the suspect in the foyer after he allegedly forced his way in. The suspect then ran off.

The incidents took place typically between 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. each morning.

After receiving tips from the public, police have identified the suspect as 50-year-old Andrew McWater Young.

He is wanted for being in a dwelling without the owner's consent and two counts of prowling by night.

Anyone with information on Young's whereabouts should call Windsor police's Target Base Unit at (519) 255-6700, extension 4350.

Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
