Ahead of this year's Lost Arts Festival this year at the John R Park Homestead, workshops are available for those who want to learn a new skill.
The workshops, on Saturday, August 8, include Tatting, Bone and Thorn Needle Making, Sew a Leather Pouch, and Introduction to Linocut Printmaking.
Each workshop is $25 plus HST, and includes instruction, materials, and admission to John R Park Homestead.
"Lost arts often require special knowledge and an application of personal style that many modern activities don't demand," said Homestead Curator Kris Ives. "This can create a sense of accomplishment and unique identity for those who practice them. It will be inspiring for workshop participants to learn these skills directly from the artists and artisans who are advanced in their fields."
The Lost Arts Festival is set for Sunday, August 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Guests can meet local artisans and watch them craft their works.
Kids can also create their own works of art at the Imagination Stations and enjoy some old-fashioned toys and games.
There will also be demonstrations of blacksmithing, woodcarving, black powder, spinning, and weaving.
Demonstrations will be provided by the Fort Malden Historic Site and the Lac Ste Claire Voyagers.
Admission is included in the ERCA Annual Pass, or those who want to go can buy tickets in advance online.
Tickets are also available at the door.
