Unifor to bargain with General Motors next

Two days after ratifying a three-year contract for workers at Ford Canada, Unifor has chosen General Motors next in contract negotiations.

Negotiations will start on August 10 at the Toronto Sheraton Centre.

Stellantis, with workers in Windsor, will negotiate with Unifor last of the Big 3 Detroit automakers.

The deal with Ford gives workers a nine per cent wage increase over the life of the deal, signing bonuses, better benefits and pensions, and a $500-million investment commitment for the Essex Engine Plant.

The current agreement at General Motors and Stellantis expires at 11:59 p.m. on September 20.
