Green Bin program to be featured in Windsor-Essex libraries

Visitors to Windsor-Essex libraries will have a chance to learn more about the Green Bin program.

The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) is bringing the program to the Windsor Public Library and the Essex County Library this summer.

Various library branches will play host to table displays, Green Bin guide pads, and collectable bookmarks with the EWSWA’s six Green Superheroes, Evangeline, Eugene, Colleen, Ameen, Granny Green, and newcomer Bean. The bookmarks will rotate throughout the summer, giving people a chance to collect them all.

Amherstburg, Kingsville, and Leamington branches of the Essex County Library will also feature a Green Bin as part of their display to promote the launch of the program in those municipalities later this fall.

"Libraries are trusted gathering places in our communities, and this partnership is a great way to connect with residents who are already engaged and curious," said EWSWA Manager of Waste Diversion Cathy Copot-Nepszy. "We want to make it as easy as possible for people to learn about the Green Bin and let them have a little fun while they're at it."

The program will wrap up just before Labour Day weekend.
