Leamington District Chamber announces nominees for Business Excellence Awards

The Leamington District Chamber of Commerce has announced its shortlist of finalists for this year's Business Excellence Awards, and Mix Mornings with Jay and Tori are on the list.

The morning radio show team was nominated in the Positive Professionals category, sponsored by RBC Royal Bank, along with Dr Maxwell Abraham and Seacliff Manor Retirement Residence.

The chamber recognizes local businesses, organizations, and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in business and a commitment to the community.

The 32nd Annual Business Excellence Awards are planned for September 9 at the Leamington Roma Club, and finalists were selected through an online judging process involving members of the Business Excellence Awards Committee, past award recipients, and chamber executives from across Ontario.

In the small business category for those with one to nine employees, HP Plumbing, Leamington and District Half Century Centre Inc, and Renew Physiotherapy were nominated.

In the category for businesses with up to 50 workers, Erie Shores Golf and Country Club got a nod, along with Insight Advantage and Wrobel Massage.

Mucci Farms, the Leamington United Mennonite Home, and Koppert Canada were announced as the finalists in the category for businesses with more than 50 employees.

The Grow South Essex award is sponsored by BMO Bank of Montreal. Del Fresco Pure, Nature Fresh Farms, and Presteve Foods are on the short list.

Cancunsito Mexican Cuisine, Oven 360, and Stacked Pancake and Breakfast House were named in the Excellence in Food Services category.

Sponsored by Point Pelee National Park, Colasanti Tropical Gardens, One of a Kind Pelee and The Bank Theatre were nominated for the Hospitality and Tourism award.

In the Customer Service category, the committee announced that Augusto's Grill, Abraham Orthodontists, and Green Heart Kitchen were nominated.

For Environmental, Social and Governance Impact, Biophi Horticultural Innovation Hub, Del Fresco Pure, and Under Sun Acres were named.

Nature Fresh Farms was also nominated in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion category, along with Migrant Worker Community Centre and MCC Thrift on Mill.

The Municipality of Leamington sponsored this year's Innovation Award. The nominees are All in Content, Biophi Horticultural Innovation Hub, and the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers.

The short-list of nominees for the Collaboration is Key award are Erie Shores Healthcare, Kingsville BIA, UMEI Christian High School, and YQGgreen Inc.

For the Innovate Her award, Jodi Bernath Brush at Educate to Empower, Krista Rempel at the Bridge Youth Resource Centre, Lisa Edwards at L.E. Marketing and Consulting, and Marissa Abraham at Lavender Spa and Boutique are nominated.

The nominees for the Young Professional of the Year award are Erie Filion at the Leamington Food Outlet, Karla Kroslak at Florascape, and Randy Sleiman at Security One Alarms.

The winners of the Libro Director's Choice, 90th Anniversary Legacy Award, and the Alf Bennie Award will be announced the evening of September 9.

The theme of this year's Business Excellence Awards is 90 Years of Chamber Excellence. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner is served at 6 p.m., and the awards ceremony follows the meal.
