Man arrested on violent assault charges

A 51-year-old man is facing several charges after an incident early Thursday morning.

Windsor police say that shortly before 3:30 a.m. on January 8, officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence near Moy Avenue and Erie Street East.

On scene, officers met with the victim and learned they had fled the house after allegedly being assaulted, choked, and threatened by someone they know.

The victim sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention.

Police said that they quickly located the suspect in an alley behind the residence and took him into custody following a brief foot pursuit, and that at the time of his arrest, he had a concealed knife and pepper spray.

Charles Hetry, 51, is facing numerous charges, including assault with choking, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and failure to comply with a release order.
