Ontario's law enforcement watchdog agency has assumed responsibility after a shooting on Thursday afternoon that involved Windsor police.
Numerous officers were called to the area of Alexandrine Street near Remington Booster Park. Windsor police took to social media before 3:30 p.m. to report an "active investigation."
Residents were asked to stay clear of that area and the adjoining Capitol, Vanier, Edinborough, Stanley, and Charlotte Streets.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., Windsor police reported a suspect had been shot.
No additional details are being provided, as the investigation has been turned over to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
There is no threat to public safety.
