No damage reported in alarm call at Purdy's Fisheries

No significant damage was reported in an incident Saturday at Purdy's Fisheries in Point Edward.

Firefighters responded to an alarm call at around 5 p.m. at the River Front Street business, which was closed at the time.

Firefighters investigated and observed a light haze of smoke inside.

The source of the smoke could not be located from an exterior investigation and Point Edward Fire and Rescue used forcible entry techniques to gain entry to the business, causing the least amount of damage possible.

In a post to social media, the fire department says a search of the business determined there was no active fire and positive pressure ventilation was completed to remove any remaining smoke.
