A new era is beginning for the Owen Sound Attack.
The club and the Ontario Hockey League announced that the franchise has been sold to Ecological Dynamics Sports Partners, led by former OHL player Tyler Nother and entrepreneur Donald McClure.
Nother, who played on the Memorial Cup-winning Windsor Spitfires in 2017, will take over as Governor and President of the Attack.
"We are thrilled to make this important investment in hockey, in players, and in the Owen Sound community," Nother said in a release.
He added the group’s goal is to create an environment where players can be "developed to their fullest potential," while giving coaches the resources needed for the team to "compete every single year."
Long-time co-owner Bob Severs will remain involved as Head of Business Operations and Community Relations, while Peter and Paul MacDermid will continue in advisory roles.
"As we considered what the future could hold for the Attack, we wanted to ensure the next ownership team would build a franchise that reflects the values of our community here in Owen Sound," Severs said.
OHL Commissioner Bryan Crawford called Nother "perfectly positioned" to lead the franchise’s next chapter, while also thanking Severs and the MacDermids for their years of leadership with the organization.
Nother said the strong connection between the team and the community is one of Owen Sound’s biggest strengths.
"We believe this connection helps drive focus, accountability, and ultimately performance," he said.
A press conference is scheduled for Friday at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
