Huron County OPP are looking for people to join its first ever annual Citizen's Police Academy.
The new academy is a way for interested citizens to learn about policing without becoming an official sworn in member of the OPP. The selected applicants for the academy will take part in interactive sessions across various OPP sectors.
Sessions will include topics like Major Crime, Emergency Response Team, Forensic Analysis and more, presented by field experts and OPP specialists.
The free program is for people considering a career in policing or who just want to learn more about the job and the challenges that officers deal with. It will run every Wednesday evening, beginning October 28, 2026, until December 02, 2026, from 6-8 p.m., at the Huron OPP detachment at 325 Albert Street, Clinton. There will be no session on November 11.
Participants will be 18 years of age and older, who represent a wide range of demographics including age, motivation, and life experience. Preference will be given to those applicants interested in a career in policing.
The application deadline is October 19. Valid photo identification will be required upon acceptance. A security check will also be used to determine candidate suitability.
