The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (GERH) will host an upcoming webinar for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This latest free webinar will be held on Tuesday, October 20 from 12-1 p.m. via ZOOM called “Rural Women's Cancer Risk, Screening and Community Supports.” It will explore the updated cancer screening guidelines, how cancer care is facilitated in rural areas, and how we can support women.
A trio of guest speakers will take part in the seminar. Agnes Waanders, a Nurse Practitioner at the Clinton Family Health Team. Anita Snobelem, a town councillor in Ashfield-Colbourne-Wawanosh, who had a long career in community pharmacy. She also owned a fashion boutique that catered to post-mastectomy patients for prosthesis fittings.
Finally, the last guest speaker will be Colleen Ouwendyk, a Registered Nurse, as well as the Director of Cancer Care and Ambulatory Services at Brightshores Health System.
Anyone in the community is welcome to join the seminar. To attend this event and future presentations, you can register at https://www.gatewayruralhealth.ca/.
