Passengers can once again catch a bus to get between Owen Sound and Wiarton.
Service on Grey Transit Route (GTR) 5 was reinstated Tuesday. The bus will operate Monday to Friday and feature three daily round trips, including new early morning and evening pickup times, to help riders get where they need to be.
Route 5 travels between Owen Sound, Shallow Lake, Hepworth, and Wiarton, offering an affordable option to riders who need to get to employment, medical appointments, shopping, education, and other important destinations.
The GTR also offers trips from Dundalk to Orangeville, while the Guelph Owen Sound Transportation (GOST) service features daily service between Owen Sound and Guelph.
The single-trip fare is $5.00 for adults, $4.50 for seniors and students, and free for children five and under.
The three departures from the Owen Sound Transit Terminal are set for weekdays at 6 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 8 p.m. Each trip will travel to Wiarton before returning southbound to Owen Sound.
The Bruce-Dufferin-Grey-Wellington Regional Transit Study project includes the GTR and GOST service, with a goal of increasing regional mobility and expanding affordable transportation options. County Councils will be getting an update on that study in the coming months.
