New-Life Mills is seeking a zoning change to allow for an expansion of its grain and feed mill operation near Listowel.
The application from New-Life Mills and Parrish & Heimbecker Ltd. applies to the property at 6065 Line 84 in North Perth's Elma Ward.
A public meeting on the proposal is scheduled for Monday, August 24 at 7 p.m. at the North Perth Council Chambers.
The application would amend the property's existing Special Agriculture Commercial/Manufacturing zoning and allow the company to move ahead with a warehouse addition.
"The proposed zoning amendment will facilitate the construction of a warehouse addition for the grain/feed mill operation," the municipal notice said.
The application would also significantly reduce the number of parking spaces required at the property.
Under the proposal, the minimum parking requirement would fall from 68 spaces to 23, including accessible spaces.
The municipality says the operational layout of the property would be controlled through a site plan agreement with North Perth.
The application was deemed complete on July 9 under Ontario's Planning Act.
The municipality has not provided details in the public notice about the size or construction cost of the proposed warehouse addition, whether the project would increase production capacity, or whether it would result in additional employment at the facility.
Members of the public will have an opportunity to weigh in before a decision is made.
"We value your input. Any person may express their support, opposition or comments to this application," the notice said.
Written or verbal submissions can be made, while anyone wishing to register for the public meeting is asked to contact the municipal clerk before 12:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
The public meeting will take place as part of North Perth council's Monday evening meeting.
