Bruce Power and its supplier partners have made a $150,000 donation to support Noongwa Wellness, a local community led health organization in Saugeen Ojibway Nation Territory.
This latest donation is through the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) Community Development Fund, advancing a three-year, $1-million commitment made by Bruce Power and its supplier partners.
These funds are meant to help support community-led health and wellness initiatives within the SON. Noongwa Wellness is "an Indigenous-owned and operated family medicine and wellness facility that brings culturally relevant, accessible care closer to home," according to a statement from Bruce Power announcing the latest funding.
The project is led by Noongwa Wellness and includes Dr. Elisa Levi, a member of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, as its inaugural physician. Fundraising continues to help Noongwa Wellness reach its ultimate goal of supplying the community with primary health care and wellness services that is built on the cultural cornerstones of the SON.
