Local volunteer income tax program returns over $1.2 million in Bruce County

The recent Community Volunteer Income Tax Program hosted by Bruce County Public Library returned over a million dollars to local residents.

According to a press release from the library, the program, which is offered through participating Bruce County Public Library Branches annually, delivered another successful tax season for Bruce County residents in 2026.

Throughout March and April, the free tax filing service provided to residents was active across five of the Bruce County Public Library sites. Volunteers helped residents file 521 income tax returns, connecting individuals and families with more than $1.2 million in tax refunds and benefits, including GST Credit and Canada Child Benefit.

The Bruce County Public Library works with many local partners to make the program happen, including 211 Ontario, Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force, and Bruce County Human Services.

Many other services benefitting residents are offered at the local libraries. For more information about services available, visit the library website at library.brucecounty.on.ca.
