Suspect sought after vehicles rummaged through, items stolen in Georgian Bluffs

An increase in overnight thefts from vehicles in Georgian Bluffs has prompted police to remind drivers to lock their vehicles as they continue to search for a suspect.

Grey Bruce OPP received multiple calls about unlocked vehicles in the area of Grey Road 5 and Concession Road 3 being entered and property stolen between last Sunday night and Monday morning. Credit and debit cards, cash and identification cards were the main items taken, police said.

One of the stolen cards was used at a business near where the thefts occurred. Police were able to get a photo of a suspect from a surveillance camera. That image was released to the public on Friday.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call investigators at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Police said the incident is a good reminder of the importance of locking your vehicle and keeping personal belongings inside out of sight or removing them entirely.

"These simple precautions significantly reduce crimes of opportunity and help protect property," police said.

Those who live in the area are additionally asked to review security footage, dash-cameras and doorbell cameras for anything suspicious around the time of the incident.

"Even small details may assist [with the investigation]," police said.
