Aircraft maintenance company agrees to lease at Saugeen Municipal Airport

The Saugeen Municipal Airport Commission says it has reached a deal that will bring new business to the local landing strips.

Allin Aircraft Maintenance has reportedly agreed to a long term land lease with the airport. Allin will construct a hangar and operate a Transport Canada approved aircraft maintenance business from the site.

The move is a part of the SMA's new development plan to attract aviation related business and eventually become self-sustaining.

"This agreement marks an important step forward in the Airport’s ongoing development and supports our long-term vision for a strong, sustainable future at Saugeen Municipal Airport," said David Hocking, Chair of the SMA Commission in a release.

The airport receives funding from Hanover, West Grey, and the Municipality of Brockton, all of which have supported the expansion plan, which includes attracting more manufacturing, hospitalilty and even residential investments to the area.

The commission noted in presentations to council earlier this year that expansion plans hinge on rezoning of the airport lands to allow them to expand operations. Brockton's new comprehensive zoning by-law which will amend it to an airport zone, is expected to be voted on by council next month.

SMA says the goal is for Allin Maintenance to be operational by fall 2026.
