Five of the area's Seniors Active Living Centres are receiving over $236,000 in funding to support programming.
The provincial funding was announced by Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers on Friday.
"Supporting our Seniors Active Living Centres is an extremely important part of keeping our communities healthy, and I’m proud that we were able to step up and keep these programs thriving," said Vickers in a release.
Funding includes over $50,000 for Northern Bruce Peninsula's Seniors Active Living Centre ($57,640), the Sauble Beach Community Centre ($56,534), Active Lifestyles Centre Grey-Bruce ($55,000) and the Town of Hanover's SALC Program ($50,166).
The Hanover Public Library is also receiving $17,542 for its Older and Wiser, Tech Talk, Mah Jongg, and Stitch and Sip programs.
This year, marks the 60th anniversary of the first six Elderly Persons’ Centres, now known as Seniors Active Living Centre programs, established under the Elderly Persons’ Centres Act, 1966.
In total, the province is investing close to $23 million to support 416 SALC programs across the province.
