Completion of West Luther Rail Trail enhancements celebrated by Wellington North

The Township of Wellington North is celebrating the completion of Phase 2 of the trail enhancements along the West Luther Rail Trail.

Five and a half kilometres of the trail, stretching from Wellington Road 16 to the trailhead at Eliza Street in Arthur, have been widened to between 15-17 feet the entire length. The trail has also been resurfaced with new gravel and dirt for a better walking and riding experience.

Additionally, thanks to a generous anonymous family donation, six benches have been installed along the trail. There are also two 10’ x 10’ pavilions at the trail head at Eliza Street for shelter and shade and a bicycle repair station at the trail head, too.

With the completion of Phase 2, a total of 11 kilometres of the West Luther Rail Trail from Eliza Street to the East-West Luther Townline have been enhanced, thanks to the anonymous family donation.

"The Township of Wellington North is extremely grateful to our donor for making these trail improvements possible," said Mayor Andy Lennox. "With the successful completion of Phase 2, this project has significantly enhanced the trail for residents and visitors alike. As a small municipality, we are fortunate to have organizations, volunteers, and community members step up to partner with us on initiatives like this. Without this support, we would not have the high-quality trail we can all enjoy today."
