Farmer charged in Mapleton crash that killed two people

Six months after a crash between a tractor and pickup truck that killed two people in Mapleton, a farmer has been charged.

Wellington OPP announced the charge of having improper lights on a farm vehicle against a 43-year-old from Drayton on Monday.

The charge stems from the collision on Eighth Line outside of Drayton on October 2, 2025. Two people in the pickup truck, a 32-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman from Drayton, were killed when their vehicle collided with the tractor around 9:30 p.m. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The tractor driver suffered minor injuries.

Police said the accused will appear in Guelph court at a later date in relation to the charge under the Highway Traffic Act.
