United Way highlighting importance of volunteers

United Way Perth Huron (UWPH) is highlighting and celebrating the great local volunteers in the region during National Volunteer Week.

The annual week to give appreciation for volunteers runs April 19-25 this year, and UWPH adds that the week highlights the collective impact of volunteering and the way individuals can create lasting change.

Volunteers assist with numerous United Way initiatives and allow programs and services offered by United Way to continue to operate.

At the organization’s recent Spirit of Community Celebration, UWPH recognized a group of dedicated volunteers from across Huron and Perth who did amazing work in their communities: Beth Blowes, Sarah Bussey, Sally Desjardine, Karen Dickins, Bernice Glenn, Wendy Hutton, Andrea Loohuizen, Ellen Barnett, Gwen Bradley, Patti Fievoli, Nick Skinner, Tom Soltys, Terri Sparling, and Denise Winger.

"We’re so grateful to our volunteers," said UWPH Executive Director Ryan Erb. "They make an impact in so many ways including helping with events, inspiring colleagues in their workplaces to give and sitting on our Board and committees. We thank everyone who supports us by giving their time to our work across Huron-Perth. We appreciate the effort these volunteers, and every other volunteer who supports us, put into United Way. Each of them has made a positive impact on the organization and the places they call home. We are happy to have the opportunity to thank them for all they do."
