Hanover receiving funds for Emergency Preparedness and Response

Council for the Town of Hanover has called a special meeting for Monday to approve nearly $40,000 in funding from the province for its Emergency Preparedness Enhancement Project.

Once the agreement is signed, the town will receive $39,511 from the Ministry of Emergency Preparedness and Response to improve its coordination, communication, and situational awareness when responding to large-scale emergencies.

The town says the funding will be used to purchase a dedicated computer for its Emergency Operations Centre to operate Hanover’s emergency management dashboard, a Meeting Owl 4+ conferencing system to enhance communication with off-site Municipal Emergency Control Group members, a Satellite-in-a-Box system to provide reliable backup internet if municipal networks fail and a mobile RTK unit to extend drone capabilities.

The town says these utilized for all municipal emergencies. The project also includes the acquisition of an AquaEye Pro Command, a sonar search tool which will only be used for water-related emergencies.
