Clinton Raceway ready for another season

Planning is racing ahead for one of Huron County's main attractions.

The harness racing season gets underway at Clinton Raceway soon, with opening day set for Sunday, May 31 at 1:30 p.m.

The 2026 season will kick off with a strong community focus, as the opening day event doubles as a fundraiser for Central Huron Secondary School. Organizers say the day will bring together racing fans and local residents for an afternoon that blends sport with community support.

Alongside the races, attendees will have a chance to win a “Backyard Nights” prize package, featuring outdoor-themed items including Adirondack chairs, a custom fire pit, a YETI cooler and tumblers, and a barbecue food package from Pineridge.

The upcoming season is scheduled to run for 14 weeks, with a brief pause on June 7 during the Clinton Spring Fair. Racing will resume after the break and continue through the summer, wrapping up on September 6 with the annual Charity Driver’s Challenge.

One of the marquee events of the season is set for July, when the track hosts its popular Legends Day celebration in conjunction with the National Driving Championship. The event is expected to draw top harness racing drivers from across Canada while also raising funds for the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation.

Organizers say they are looking forward to welcoming fans back to the track for a season that promises competitive racing, special events and a continued emphasis on giving back to the community. More details, including the full race schedule and event listings, are available on the Clinton Raceway website
