Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has announced over $1.3 million in funding for two local public health units.
A media release from Rae's office shares that Huron Perth Public Health and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health will shares the funding that "supports local public health initiatives and service delivery priorities."
Rae's release also states that this funding is meant to "strengthen public health to improve capacity, stability, and sustainability in the sector and deliver more equitable health outcomes for Ontarians."
Huron Perth Public Health is receiving $488,400, and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is getting $884,206.
The funding, according to Rae, is part of a larger $60.09 million investment in additional one-time funding for Public Health Units across Ontario, via the Ministry of Health.
"Public Health Units play a vital role in protecting our rural communities," said MPP Rae. "This investment supports prevention, preparedness, and the frontline services families depend on every day."
