The Owen Sound Attack says its business operations team is being impersonated in an active email scam that is targeting locals.
According to a statement put out by the team, it was made aware of a scam where individuals are attempting to collect payment in exchange for vendor space, merchandise tables, or promotional opportunities at upcoming home games.
The fraudulent emails reportedly request advance payments be submitted through unofficial channels.
In the statement, the Attack say they "will never engage in a vendor agreement without prior in-person communication," and "will never request advance payment for any product or service without first issuing an official invoice from our business operations department."
The team says all legitimate communication will come from Ghoddinott@attackhockey.com or other verified @attackhockey.com email addresses.
Anyone who receives a suspicious email or has concerns about the authenticity of any correspondence, should contact the Attack through a member of the business operations staff directly.
