Perth County OPP respond to over 100 traffic incidents during severe weather event

During last week's severe winter weather, Perth County OPP responded to more than 100 traffic incidents.

A media release shared by the OPP states officers in in the county were very busy between January 19 to 25, with the weather causing multiple collisions.

There were also numerous stranded motorists and road closures, including Highway 23 from Palmerston to Elginfield Road and Highway 8 from Stratford to Goderich. Many local side roads were also closed as a result of the weather.

During that time, officers responded to 45 collisions, 53 traffic hazards, and five abandoned vehicles.

Police are thanking local emergency crews and plow operators, as well as tow truck drivers, who were also kept very busy in the area due to the non-stop snowfall.
