Minto reschedules cancelled New Year's Eve "Fire and Ice" event to Family Day

The Town of Minto has announced a new date for the recently cancelled "Fire and Ice" skating event.

Originally slated to take place on New Year's Eve, the massive snow storm that hit southern Ontario caused officials to cancel the event in consultation with the County of Wellington Emergency Services staff.

Now, the event will instead take place on Family Day, which is on February 16, from 6-8 p.m.

The event is in partnership with Minto Fire, the Palmerston Lions Club, and Blessings to You Centre, and will feature a fireworks display at 8:00 p.m. put on by the Palmerston Lions Club.

There will also be face painting, glitter tattoos, magic and fire shows, and more. However, organizers would like to note that public skating will not be available during this rescheduled event.

"We were very disappointed to cancel 'Fire and Ice' originally, knowing how much the community looks forward to this event," says Marketing & Community Development Coordinator, Erin Raftis, "We’re excited to bring it back on Family Day and provide an opportunity for families and friends to come together and enjoy the celebration in a safe and festive way."

More information will be shared closer to the event date through the Town of Minto’s website and social media channels.
