Bruce County Public Library bringing in therapy dogs for students

The Bruce County Public Library (BCPL) is bringing in St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs to help students during exam time.

With first semester exams coming up, the BCPL branches in Wiarton, Walkerton, Port Elgin, and Kincardine will host the therapy dogs to help students relax and prepare for the stressful time that exams bring.

Between January 13 and January 27, 2026, St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog teams will make their way to all the branches.

In addition, during the week of January 26-30, 2026, BCPL will offer study-friendly hot chocolate bars for teens.

The visiting dogs are part of a therapy dog program, which "aims to bring comfort and support to people in schools, libraries, hospitals, and community spaces," according to a media release from the BCPL.
