Georgian Bluffs helps to donate 24 trees to Owen Sound Hospital property

A community collaboration has seen 24 trees find a new home in Owen Sound.

The Township of Georgian Bluffs helped facilitate the donation of 24 trees from Connon Nurseries, who partner with municipalities to plant trees that would have otherwise been discarded due to visual defects.

Staff from Georgian Bluffs put the nursery in touch with NeighbourWoods North, and the volunteer group covered the cost of delivery, arranged the necessary equipment, and coordinated the planting at the Owen Sound Hospital.

The trees were planted on the hospital grounds as part of an ongoing naturalization effort.

Volunteers guided the trees into place, added soil and mulch, and secured them with protective wrapping.

"This is a great example of what’s possible when people and organizations come together to enhance the environment," said Riel Warrilow, Environmental Initiatives Officer at Georgian Bluffs. "Sometimes the best thing we can do is connect the dots."
