The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health is holding a special event alongside Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma for farmers.
The event is part of the ongoing S.H.E.D. Talks, or Sustaining Healthy Farms through Empowerment and Dedication series, which is run by the Gateway Centre.
This event, called Celebrating the Fall Harvest, will be held on Wednesday, November 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Mayor’s Barn in Stratford.
S.H.E.D. Talks were created to "provide farmers with a space to connect, share experiences, and talk openly about the challenges and rewards of agricultural life," according to the Gateway Centre.
This event will feature guest speaker Peter Johnson, known to many as “Wheat Pete,” along with Rod Beattie, a local actor and comedian. Guests can also look forward to a locally sourced BBQ lunch, live music, a wellness fair, and a community auction.
Admission is by donation, and everyone is welcome. To register, search “S.H.E.D. Talk Stratford” on Eventbrite or visit https://SHEDTalkStratford.eventbrite.ca.
"It’s been a busy season for farmers in Perth County," said Ava Fitzgerald, Research Assistant at Gateway CERH. "They’ve been hard at work making sure that everyone is able to gather around full tables. We’re excited to celebrate that effort with a relaxed morning and a shared meal."
Mayor Ritsma shared his excitement for the day, saying, "Come on out November 26 to our barn, bring an appetite, and bring a conversation. We’re going to have a wonderful time; it’s going to be a morning and a moment to remember."
